Reflect.

Writing is a constant process of revision. Writing pieces can always be revised and edited. Works of art were not written with perfection on the first try. The art of writing is the process of writing something, then revising it and editing it until you carve out the final product.

Having an unbias reader proof your work can help a great deal. The feedback received from this reader can help or hurt your piece, so make sure it’s a reader that can relate to your targeted audience. Is the audience you are writing for reflected by this reader? What is said in your writing? What is not noted in your writing? Taking the time to read and reflect on your writing is an essential part of the revision process. As a teacher of writing, asking your students the right questions and providing appropriate feedback sparks revision.

Reflecting on your writing is an essential step in the process. Without reflection, one does not grow as a writer.
